2021 - The Kissing Bridge (new design)
In the mid-1880s, a bridge was constructed to span the railroad tracks that connected campus to Sager’s Lake. The bridge was said to bring good luck to couples who could kiss for the entire time that a train was passing under the bridge. Their entire faces would be covered in soot—except their lips.

2018 - Out of the Darkness ... Light!
Art meets science as two alumni Carol '47 and Edwin '48 Engerer, together with Professor Steven and Barbara Engerer, commissioned a custom piece of art to be on permanent display in the Center for the Sciences. Entitled "Out of Darkness ... Light!" features 348 total pieces of glass-blown art. Local artists at Hot Shop Valpo dedicated more than six months to create the installation, which represents the color frequencies of light. Light is a metaphor for both the search for understanding and the quest for knowledge.

2013 - Lightfall
This piece captures Valparaiso’s motto: “In luce tua, videmus lucem... In Thy light, we see light,” and the theology of Psalm 36:9 on which the motto is based. The imagery of the sun’s rays flowing from the heavens invites guests to feel the enormity of God’s blessings showering down on Valparaiso University and empowering us to share these blessings with others. The mosaic connects the role of the Duesenberg Welcome Center to that of the University, introducing visitors to Valpo’s mission and vision.
